Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin Esq. is a Barrister at Law and a Solicitor Advocate of the Superior Courts of Ghana. He studied at the Ghana School of Law for his bar where he qualified as a Barrister-at-Law and accordingly called to the Ghana Bar. He holds a Bachelor of Law from Buckingham University in UK and Master of Arts in International Politics and Security Studies from Bradford University, UK.

Having risen through the political ranks as an Assemblyman and a Presiding Member of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Alexander was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in 2012 and in 2016.

In parliament, he served on various committees including Finance, Defense and Interior, and Public Accounts. He is also a Member of Ghana’s ECOWAS Parliament Delegation due to his interest in international politics with a focus on foreign policy and its implication on national development.

Aside from being a Member of Parliament, he maintains an active legal practice with a focus on Financial Crime, Security, Human Rights and Constitutional Law. He is an Associate Partner at Dehyena Chambers.

He is currently a member of the International Bar Association, Commonwealth Lawyers Association, the Young Fraud Lawyers Association UK and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the world’s largest anti-fraud organization.

Apart from his delivery of speeches at various fora on many subjects. He is also a part time lecturer at Ghana Institute of Journalism and lectures Contract Negotiations at the Post Graduate level.

He is Married to Dianne Markin with children and loves to play Golf and Table Tennis.
