Hon. Kwame Amporfo Twumasi has been involved in the politics of Ghana from the grassroots to national level for over 20 years. He has served as the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sport, as well as the Deputy Minister of Energy in the administration of Ex-President Kuffour. For a period of eight years, he served the people of Nkoranza South as their representative and Member of Parliament.

As a Deputy Minister and Member of Parliament, Hon. Twumasi served on a number of committees including the Parliamentary Select Committee on Gender and Children, the Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Select Committee on Energy and the Special Budget Committee among others. He previously served as an Assembly Member for nine years and rose to the position of District Chief Executive for Nkoranza (now Nkoranza South Municipal and Nkoranza North Districts) Assemblies from 2001 to 2005. He was the Nkoranza District Representative at the Consultative Assembly that drafted the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

Hon. Twumasi was an Economics and Geography tutor, first at Atebubu Secondary and later at Nkoranza Secondary Technical from 1988 to 2001. He also worked as an Assistant Management Analyst in the Management Services Division then under the Office of the President, State House in the 1980/81 National Service year.

He sojourned in Nigeria under a contract with the Sokoto State Government as a teacher from September 1981 to August 1987.
