Vida Duti is an alumnus of the University of Dortmund, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a member of the Ghana Institute of Planners. She is an expert in Effective Governance, Organization and Systems Development with more than 20 years national and international experience. She has extensive experience in community development and poverty reduction, local government capacity development, and public sector reform and systems strengthening. She also has specialist experience in building the capacity to sustain the complex systems needed for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) service delivery, and has in-depth experience in the design and management of financing mechanisms including performance-based grants, challenge prize schemes and social investment funds.
Vida Duti is the Country Director of IRC Ghana; an independent, non-profit WASH organization that works with governmental and non-governmental partners to make the Sustainable Development Goals for universal WASH a reality. In Ghana, she works with government at national and local level and with all the leading NGOs in strengthening WASH systems. She is also a member of the international IRC leadership team setting global policies and strategic directions in the public policy environment. She has led the development and implementation of numerous action-research programmes with a focus on sustainability, sector reforms and technical support.
Vida Duti previously worked with the Canadian High Commission in Ghana, as a Senior Development Officer managing programmes in support of district development budget in northern Ghana. She also spearheaded central governance reforms aimed at improving parliamentary oversight and executive decision-making. She has worked with the Ghana Poverty Reduction Project and Social Investment Fund as a Community Outreach and Institutional Development Specialist. She started her professional career with the National Council on Women and Development contributing to gender related research, policies, and advocacy.
Vida Duti received the 2019 OPEC Fund for International Development Annual Award in recognition for her work in providing sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services for the population of Ghana, and particularly for her pioneering work in the Asutifi North District of Ghana.
